Tuscany Farmhouse Apartments Siena, Accommodation in Valdorcia

LEISURE & SURROUNDING

HOLIDAYS AND COUNTRYSIDE

With a reservation it is possible to have various nature-oriented leisure activities organized. For example, there are tour itineraries along the ancient Via Francigena where one may follow the same route of Saints (San Bernardino, Santa Caterina, San Bernardo Tolomei), Popes (Enea Silvio Piccolomini, Pope Pio II), merchants, pilgrims, wanderers and brigands. The tours take you past old country churches, abbeys, castles, mansions, farm houses, taverns and wine estates.

The different kinds of activities include:

  • hiking and trekking tours with qualified tour guides
  • guided tours on horseback
  • monuntain-bike excursions
  • car tours with a tour guide and a driver
  • hot air ballooning
  • golf: 18 holes golf courses at Borgo La Bagnaia (only few kilometres far from our place) and at Golf Club Punta Ala, on the Tuscan coast between Grosseto and Livorno, can be easily reached by car
  • relaxing at the thermal springs in Rapolano Terme, Petriolo and San Casciano dei Bagni

  • HOLIDAYS AND CULTURE

Our guests, in early booking, may take advantage of an exclusive pass for the most important and visited museums in Siena and elsewhere in Tuscany. Directly at your apartment you will find the tickets for the Duomo, the crypt, the baptistery, the OPA Museum.

Besides, it is always possible for our guests to book a day trip with tour guide to the various interesting venues that surround the farm house: Siena, Pienza, Montalcino, Sant’Antimo Abbey, San Galgano Abbey, Monte Oliveto Maggiore Abbey, Montepulciano, San Gimignano, Monteriggioni, the Chianti area, the Val d’Orcia with its many small medieval villages, and the Crete Senesi.

Moreover, guided visits to the Galleria degli Uffizi and the Museo dell’Accademia in Florence can be organized as well.

    TASTY HOLIDAYS

To get to know our territory also means to experience our traditional food products.
Our guests may book guided tours on the routes of the great Tuscan wines: the Chianti, the Brunello di Montalcino, the Vernaccia di San Gimignano, the Nobile di Montepulciano.

You may visit ancient wineries, have dinner among the famous durmast oak barrels, and taste the best products of our ancient food tradition: pork products made with the 'cinta senese', an ancient pig breed that was already being bred in the Middle Ages (a cinta pig is depicted in the fresco Effetti del Buon Governo in campagna by Ambrogio Lorenzetti, dating back to 1338), the Chianina meat, the pecorino cheese from the Pienza district, the extra-virgin olive oil, and the traditional sienese sweets, such as ricciarelli and panforte.

Directly at your apartment or in a professional kichen in the historic center of Siena, our guests can book cooking courses with cheff Lella Cesari Ciampoli.
